Picture Polish - Escapades // My Collaboration Shade

Hi everyone! Today I have the most incredible news for you! The day is finally here where I can proudly introduce to you the Picture Polish x Nail Escapades collaboration shade Escapades! :) AHHHHHH I KNOW RIGHT?!! I’m dancing I’m jumping I’m singing I’m HAPPYYY! My goodness, I still can't believe it myself; I never ever would've guessed that one day I'd get this amazing chance!

The collaboration project started back in late December 2013, and since then I've kept it a secret from everyone! It's been so hard but totally worth it :) After many days of spontaneous dance routines and singing of happiness, I started taking everything in. I began to wonder what a Picture Polish x Nail Escapades nail polish would actually look like. Many emails have been sent back and forth about colors, bases, finishes etc. but in the end it just all came together. I'm so happy and so proud to present the result from many months of secrecy and hidden excitement! With the skills and talent of Jules and Megs and a tiny dash of my ideas, Escapades is here! :)

When I review and swatch any nail polish on the blog, I always have a paragraph starting with the name of the polish set in bold followed by a technical description. Now comes the part when I'm about to do that with my own collaboration shade, and I just can't believe it!!! :)

Escapades is a dark teal green jelly scatter-holo. It's a different kind of teal - a dark kind that I haven't seen before in nail polish form. It leans very close to a blackened emerald green, but the base contains enough blue pigment that it remains a dark teal green color. The formula is excellent; it's really creamy and it glides on with ease! Apply 2 coats for a super opaque finish - or try 1 very generous coat to see the beautiful base color shine a bit more through :) The drying time is exceptionally fast, it dries completely smooth on the nail with a super glossy finish. Perfection :)

I'm so happy; I love how Escapades turned out! My favorite colors are blue and green, so teal is just the perfect fit! :) I chose a very dark base color with contrasting bright sparkles, and the inspiration comes from my personal journey through the last couple of years. I've had a rather rough, dark time - life gives you ups and downs and there were just more downs than ups. My family has been my rock, and they know that :) But through my nail escapades I feel like I've grown so much as a person; I'm glad that I found this thing that I really love to do and feel so passionate about :) That's why I named it Escapades! :)

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Jules and Megs. I can't say enough how thankful and absolutely grateful I am. You giving me this opportunity has meant so much to me, and it's something I'll enjoy to the fullest and forever look back on with happiness :)

Escapades is available from today December 1st at www.picturepolish.com.au - they ship worldwide! :) You can also check out the Stockists page for additional online resellers of Picture Polish nail polishes, or the Bricks & Mortar page for physical shops near you! :)

F.U.N Lacquer - Christmas 2014 - Poinsettia (H)

Hi everyone! Today I'm showing you a beautiful nail polish called Poinsettia (H) from the Christmas 2014 Collection by F.U.N Lacquer. As you know by now, F.U.N Lacquer is one of my favorite indie brands, and I think one of the many reasons is the originality and uniqueness of every single nail polish. The Christmas 2014 Collection consists of 8 nail polishes in total :) There are 4 different shades each with their own holographic version, and today you'll see the holo-fied Poinsettia. Find the final verdict and buying info at the bottom of the post :)

Poinsettia (H) is a multichrome ranging through vibrant hues of red, copper, gold and green. There's been added fine holo particles and small holographic glitter for that extra special sparkle! Now this is amazing - all the multichromes in this collection has been formulated to be worn alone and applied in 2-3 coats, but it can also serve as a multichrome top coat on a dark base color. Remember to still top it off with regular top coat for a shiny finish.

This color is so unique to me, and I fell in love with it instantaneously. The base is flawless and application is a dream. The color scheme is brilliantly capturing the main colors associated with Christmas - green and red - and manages to show off two contrasting colors with ease, uniting them in a way that doesn't seem forced and doesn't result in a mushy brown mess. Against the base color(s) the added holo glitter looks like lights on a decorated Christmas tree, and it gives such a cozy, homey and magical feel to it. It fits so well with the source of inspiration being a Poinsettia flower, also known as a Christmas Star - a beautiful red flower with contrasting green leaves. I LOVE when it all comes together like this! I'm absolutely hooked, and I think you will be too.

To conclude this blog post I must say I'm yet again impressed by the talented and creative Yuin Ying; I can't do anything but love her for being such an incredible, sweet person and a very dear friend :) She manages to amaze me every single time she releases a new collection! This Christmas collection is yet another hit in my eyes. Poinsettia (H) is so special; it flaunts its perfected transition between opposing colors with ease, which may sound like an impossible thing to do.

The Christmas 2014 Collection consists of 8 nail polishes in total, 4 different shades each with their own holographic version: C'est Noël, C'est Noël (H), Poinsettia, Poinsettia (H), Mistletoe Kiss, Mistletoe Kiss (H), Royal Chapel & Royal Chapel (H). Please note that all F.U.N Lacquer nail polishes are 5-free and cruelty free YAY! :)

Individual pieces from the Christmas collection are available from November 22 (Saturday) 11.30pm Singapore Time at funlacquer.com. Also check out the Stockists page for additional resellers of F.U.N Lacquer nail polishes.

Il Était Un Vernis - Once Upon A Time Collection (Part 1)

Hi everyone! Today I'm really excited to introduce a new indie brand called Il était un vernis :) The anticipation has been super high on my part, because the creators are two extremely talented girls who are very famous in our ever-expanding nail polish community: Bé (Bérangère) from Vernis En Folie and Stéphanie from De Tout Et De Rien.

These two girls became friends a few years ago; they met through their blogs, and after many chats about glitter, magic and nail polish they actually decided to create their own nail polish brand! It's like every NPA's dream come true! They came up with a motto: Creating colors they've never seen in their Helmer's drawers! Taking inspiration from seasonal trends in fashion, interior design and beauty - they hope to create something unique and beautiful. Today I present to you 2 polishes out of 5 from the very first Il était un vernis collection Once Upon A Time.

Light Box is a charcoal/black based jelly with scatter-holo (meaning: scattered holographic micro flakes) and larger iridescent blue flakes. The quality is really amazing! I'm so impressed - it glides on like a dream and just looks SO gorgeous! I see a lot of Bé in this polish - you know she made a collaboration shade with Picture Polish right? It's called Hope. Do you see a small resemblance? Tiny blue pops of color and sparkle. As you may know, the scatter-holo finish is my absolute favorite of all the formulas in the world, so it feels like this collection is completely taylor-made for me! :) Anyway 2 coats, that was all I needed for full opacity - you can also choose to use 1 coat over a dark base color.

Crush On Blue is a medium blue metallic scatter-holo. Yes, metallic scatter-holo!! What an awesome idea! This blue shade is so captivating; the mix of shimmer and holo flecks creates a luminous setting - like the beautiful transition at dusk, and as stars begin to appear they cast sparkles all over the sky. To be completely honest, I have no idea how Bé and Stéphanie managed to acheive such high quality for their very first collection! This is 2 coats, and it's all you need for full coverage.

Update: I'm sorry for the image quality for the Crush On Blue swatches! I have not yet invested in a proper setup with good artificial lighting, and as the Danish weather is crappy 99% of the time this time of the year, it's always a bet of luck to catch a moment with acceptable sunlight for a photo session. I tried my best to mimic light with the free photo-editing software GIMP (I'm really not a pro) and I almost didn't include the swatches in the post, but the polish is too damn gorgeous not to show off to you wonderful people :) I hope you understand!

HUGE congratulations to you girls for chasing your dream and following through! You're such an inspiration to all of us, and you give us hope that we too can do what we set our minds to!

Il était un vernis nail polishes are designed in France with love and manufactured in Australia. The polishes are 5-free which means no formaldehyde, no toluene, no DBP, no formaldehyde resin, no camphor. They are also vegan, meaning no animal based ingredients and they're not tested on animals! :)

The Once Upon A Time collection is available online at iletaitunvernis.bigcartel.com with each 12ml nail polish retailing for 12,90EUR. For a discounted price you can buy the full set for 59,90EUR. (I believe the cute pouch was limited edition)

They ship overseas with tracking YAY! Transactions are secured by Paypal and orders are sent with the French carrier La Poste.

Cirque Colors - The Burlesque Collection

Hi everyone! Did you all have a happy Halloween? I sure did; horror movie night with friends and lots of candy! I didn't dress up, but on my nails I wore a black lace design inspired by the collection I'm reviewing today - I figured it looked fairly gothic and costumey so I decided to wear it for the night :) You'll see; it's at the bottom of the post.

Today I'm introducing yet another brand to the blog. It's a brand I've been admiring and absolutely dying to try for such a long time. I'm of course talking about Cirque Colors. You can't imagine my happiness when the founder Annie contacted me and asked if I'd like to review The Burlesque Collection for Fall 2014!

The Burlesque Collection consists of 4 stunning holographic lacquers in very deep and sultry shades. The entire inspiration was drawn from vaudeville shows of the early 20th century, and it embodies the dramatic and sexy performances of strong confident women. A fascinating storyline coming together with a perfectly executed collection is truly a magical experience.

Trocadero is a midnight blue linear holo. It represents a night out on the town at the historic Trocadero Theatre in Philadelphia. Of my broad collection of navy blue holos, this might be my new favorite. As stars lit up the sky on an intense and euphoric night out a mere century ago, as do the sparkles gleam in this beautiful nail polish. 2 coats.

Boudoir is a lush burgundy linear holo. Boudoir means a woman's bedroom or a small private room. Another instant favorite. The subtle shimmer will tease you into attraction and soon you'll be head over heels in love with this beauty. 2 coats.

Josephine is a forest green linear holo. It pays homage to Josephine Baker (the original twerker) and her famous banana dance performed on a stage set up like a jungle. An exotic green shade for an exotic lady. I really adore it. 2 coats.

Harlow is an antique gold linear holo. The name could be a tribute to Jean Harlow, the blonde bombshell of the early 1900's, I'm not sure. Or maybe to the Harlow Gold Show, a modern day burlesque show. As the art of burlesque has been reinvented, so has timeless gold. It's been reinvented as a holographic green-toned vintage gold shade that is truly unique. 2 coats.

Unfortunately my skin tone couldn't handle all the sultriness of Harlow. The clash between my skin and this shade of gold is very visible, but I don't care - I love it too much to care. It's too beautiful. It inspired me to do nail art, and that was the best feeling ever. I freehanded black lace on top of it with black acrylic paint using a tiny nail art brush.

I seriously can't say a single bad thing about this amazing collection! Of course the featured nail polish Harlow didn't suit my skin tone, but that's just my complexion that came in the way; Harlow is a beautiful color!! My love for the shades were strong before the whole swatchavaganza, but even stronger after! I'm ridiculously impressed, and that's why I hope one day I'll get the chance to try even more Cirque Colors nail polishes :)

The Burlesque Collection is available online at CirqueColors.com with each nail polish retailing for $13. Check out the Stockists page for retailers all around the world.

Note: All Cirque Colors nail lacquers are made in the USA, they're 3-free (YAY!) and mildly scented with a blend of essential oils that leave a light floral aroma after the polish dries.
